The long answer
Thank you for your email asking if your father must still change his Sassa gold card to the Postbank black card, even though he receives his pension through his bank.
Yes, I’m afraid everyone must change their Sassa gold cards to the Postbank black cards even if they receive their pension through the bank. This is because Sassa says it is phasing out the gold card altogether. The latest news that I have been able to source is that the gold cards are only valid up to 28 February 2025.
But given that there have many so-called expiry dates issued that have subsequently been withdrawn, along with reassurances that the gold cards will be valid until Postbank has replaced them, it may well be that 28 February is not the final expiration date. But as we cannot know the truth of this, one way or another, it is probably safest to assume that the gold card must be indeed be replaced by the black one by 28 February 2025.
Wishing you the best,
Athalie
