GroundUp TV starts 11 December
GroundUp TV produces documentary inserts based on individuals, groups or organisations based in your community. Our first series will feature people living in and around Richards Bay, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Watch the show on CTV Wednesdays at 19h45, 1KZN TV Wednesdays at 19h15, and Bay TV on Tuesdays at 18h15 starting 11 December.
GroundUp TV is Community Media Trust’s most recent training project funded by the Media Development and Diversity Agency and The Open Society Foundation and provides an innovative model for training and skills development for employment avenues in the media sector while also offering a media platform for community stories and robust journalism on 3 community television stations – 1KZN, Bay TV in the Eastern Cape and CTV in Cape Town.
The project has employed a team of 6 young Community Journalists (CJs), for 10 months, to produce a series of 12 minute documentary inserts that deal with community-specific concerns and issues relating to health, education, governance, gender-based violence, environmental issues, accountability and active citizenship; as is relevant to the needs of each community TV station. As members of the communities in which they work, the CJs are well placed to gather engaging personal stories that provide an avenue for community education and improvement. This material will encourage and inspire youth and other community members to take an active part in managing and improving their communities.
CTV broadcasts on frequency 839.25MHz (channel 67).
1KZN is on DSTV channel 261.
Bay TV is on DSTV channel 260 or frequency 735.25 (channel 54).
