The short answer
The UIF or Labour Department should be able to give your complete employment history.
The long answer
You can contact the UIF Call Centre (0800 843 843) to ask for help accessing your employment history. You can also contact them over WhatsApp: 082 046 8553. You can also speak to the Labour Dept by calling them at 080 003 0007 or at 012 309 4000.
UIF says you can share your reference number, and ID number but warns that you should not share your password or secret code with anyone.
Your employer is legally obliged to register you with the UIF and give you the correctly completed UI-19 form when you leave so that you can claim UIF. The Labour Department is required to see that the employer follows the rules laid down by law. It is not a choice. If you find that an ex-employer did not register you, or if they refuse to give you a UI-19 form, you should report it to the Labour Department. If complaints are reported to them, it is required to investigate and see that the law is followed.
If the Labour inspectors do not assist you and force the employer to comply with the law, you can refer a dispute to the CCMA. The Labour Guide says: “If you have decided to lodge a dispute, you need to complete a CCMA case referral form (also known as LRA Form 7.11. These forms are available from the CCMA offices, the Department of Employment and Labour and the CCMA website).”
Wishing you the best,
