The whole question
Dear Athalie
What do I need to do next after checking on my RDP application status and seeing that it is "in allocation"? I have changed my phone, therefore, I cannot receive any notifications.
The long answer
"In allocation" means that the provincial Allocation Committee is in the process of deciding who should be allocated a house and you are among the applicants being considered. You should go to the municipal housing office where you originally made your application and update your details (like your new phone number) immediately, or you may be at risk of losing that allocation opportunity, if they cannot get hold of you.
The Housing Department says on its Frequently Asked Questions website:
“It is always recommended that follow-up be done at the office where the application was done as they will have your file and they can talk to you about progress and any outstanding documents in your file. This also includes updating your contact details.”
When you go to the office, make a note of the date, the office, the name of the person you spoke to, and what they said, because if there is a problem, you will need those details. But mainly, my advice is: don’t delay going to the office.
Wishing you the best,
Athalie
