The short answer
No, SASSA does not register policies for disability grant recipients.
The whole question
Dear Athalie
My father, who was receiving a disability grant, passed away in December last year. Where could my father's estate have been kept as he was mentally ill? Does SASSA register policies for grant recipients?
The long answer
Your late father could only get a disability grant after satisfying SASSA that his income did not exceed the maximum amount in the means test. That is currently R86,280 a year if he was single or R172,560 a year if he was married.
His assets could not be worth more than R1,227,600 if he was single or R2,455,200 if he was married.
Wishing you the best,
Athalie
