The short answer
You need to inform SASSA that the child’s circumstances have changed.
The whole question
I'm currently receiving a grant for my child, but I will no longer be staying with him. What arrangements can I make so that my child’s grant money can be received by the person who will be looking after him?
The long answer
You would have to contact SASSA to inform them that the child’s circumstances have changed. You would need to make an affidavit stating that as the biological parent you will no longer be staying with the child and give the name and ID number of the person who will be responsible for the child. If it were possible for that person to accompany you to the Sassa office, it might get the application done quicker, as that person would need to apply for the grant in the same way as you did:
The person would need:
Payments stop if the person doesn’t claim for three months, and will also stop in the month the child turns 18.
The person can fill in the application form at any Sassa office, and this is Sassa’s toll free number: 0800 60 10 11.
