Answer to a question from a reader
How do I request my employment history at UIF?
The short answer
You will need to go to your nearest Labour Centre with your ID to request a printout.
The long answer
The most reliable way to get it is simply to go to your nearest Labour Centre (Dept of Employment and Labour office) taking your ID with you. Go to the enquiries or claims counter, and ask for a “UIF contribution history printout”. An official can generate and print it directly from the database.
It’s best not to go at the end of the month as there are long queues. It is said that around 14:00 is the best time to go, as the morning rush will have cleared by then.
If you run into any difficulties, you can phone the UIF Call Centre on 0800 843 843 to ask for help accessing your employment history. You can also contact them on WhatsApp at 082 046 8553. You can speak to the Employment and Labour Dept by calling them at 080 003 0007 or at 012 309 4000.
UIF says you can share your reference number and ID number, but warns that you should not share your password or secret code with anyone.
Wishing you the best,
Athalie
