The long answer
Thank you for your email asking where to claim the title deeds for your RDP houses in Bloekombos-Kraaifontein.
As the houses are in the Cape Town area, it may be best to contact the Cape Town Deeds office, but because you have to visit the office in person to get information about title deeds, you may prefer to go to the Deeds Office in King Williamstown.
The address for the Cape Town Deeds office is:
New Revenue Building
90 Plein Street
Cape Town
8001
Postal Address:
Registrar of Deeds, Cape Town
Private Bag X9073
Cape Town
8000
Tel: 021 464 7600
The address for the King Williamstown Deeds Office is:
5601, 113 Alexandra Rd, King William's Town, 5601
Tel: 043 642 2741
You will need to have the following information ready:
The full names and/or identity number of the owner of property, or at least her date of birth.
The correct erf number and township or farm name and number, not the street address.
At the Deeds office you will be helped at the information desk to fill out the prescribed form and the procedure will be explained. You will need to pay the required fee for a data search at the cashier’s office, which will be about R14.00 and then take the receipt back to the information desk. The receipt number will be allocated to your copy of the title deeds. It could take from 30 minutes to 60 minutes for the search.
