What immigrants would like President Zuma to say
GroundUp asked four immigrants to South Africa what they would like President Jacob Zuma to say in his State of the Nation Address tonight.

“I would like the president to take seriously and intervene on matters that affect people in his country, citizens or non-citizens. I would definitely like to hear him say that the department of justice is providing protection for immigrants, and that the people who are responsible for xenophobia attacks are punished accordingly.”
Osman Abdi from Bangladesh
“The situation at the Department of Home Affairs is frustrating and I would like to hear the president say that the minister has been demoted or changed to another department.”
Mumin Abdul from Somalia
“If only the president would include in his speech how much we are helping his people with jobs because in each and every shop that is owned by an immigrant there is at least one South African employed.”
Aminul Islam from Pakistan
“The president should talk to his people and make them understand what migration is. It is everywhere but South Africans do not seem to understand and respect its outcomes in terms of the country’s economy.”
