I want to submit my UIF claim. Is there a company that can do it on my behalf?

The long answer

Let’s take the question of the progress of the migration to the new UIF website first:

The Department of Employment and Labour officially shut down the old uFiling system for employees on 20 May 2026. All new UIF claims must be submitted through the new system called UIF Online.

For employers, the old uFiling system is still active but will be shut down by the end of August 2026. Then the employer declarations, registration and contributions will also migrate to the new UIF Online. Labour Dynamix says that employers may experience intermittent delays or performance slowdowns on declarations during the transition period. Employers shifting to the new framework have reported timeout errors and declaration grid delays during the transition phase. So what that means is that during this transition period, many people will experience delays in getting their claims paid. 

UIF says it should take about 20 working days to approve your application. They say that it will take about four to six weeks for your payout after your submission, due to the UIF doing extra fraud checks and verification. Payments after that should take 7 to 10 working days, after you sign every 28 days for payments to continue, 

Let’s go on to the question of recommending a company that can submit your UIF claim on your behalf:

We can’t actually recommend a company as such. There are companies that you may approach to assist you, but you would have to find one independently.

Should you choose to claim your UIF through UIF Online, these are the documents you will need:

• A completed UI-19 form and a Service Certificate from both your 10-year employer and your three-month contract employer

• Form UI-2.8: Completed and stamped by your bank

• Form UI-2.7: Proof of your most recent salary

• Contract/Letter of Service: Documentation explicitly showing that your 3-month contract has come to an end

• Your 13-digit barcoded South African ID or passport

• Proof of registration as a work-seeker

The Department takes, on average, 7-10 days to process a continuation form and make payment, so your payments will not necessarily be received on the same day each month.
