You can only register and be given a tax number by reporting at a SARS office.
The long answer
You can only register and be given a tax number by reporting at a SARS office. You will need to bring documents to show:
1. Proof of Identity (e.g. ID book or smart card)
2. Proof of address (e.g. utility bills)
3. Proof of bank details (bank statement not older than 3 months)
After you have registered and been given your tax number at the SARS office, you can register for e-filing.
