On Friday night, musicians Saalim Ismail, Itu Kubeka and Jarrad Racket shared their music at an intimate dinner with family, friends and fellow entertainers at newly-opened Kaprinos Express in Green Point.

Johannesburg born Itu Kubeka delivered soothing vocals ranging from house beats to slow beats. Kubeka moved to Cape Town three years ago for work.

“I performed regularly in Johannesburg before I got to Cape Town, and got dragged into the corporate world. After three years, I decided I needed to get back to my music,” said Kubeka.

Jarrad Racket, who currently has a hit single, ‘Stay’, said he started singing at a young age. He performs his own music as well as covers of other artists.

Saalim Ismail gave renditions of songs by Alicia Keys, John Legend and other artists. He closed with the first public performance of his latest single, “Stronger”, a personal song that shares his journey.

In the audience were some familiar faces, such as dancer and choreographer Didi Moses, who has been a judge on So You Think You Can Dance South Africa.

Moses was impressed and chatted with the musicians after the show.

The event was arranged by Kaprinos Express with Miami Sounds to give exposure to Cape Town talent.
