Mandla Mxinwa, Jabulani Miya, Themba Molefi, Christopher Piet, Zola Swelani, Zabonkwe Konile and Zandisile Mjobo -- the Gugulethu Seven -- will once again be honoured for the role they played in the struggle against the apartheid regime.

Award-winning South African poet Vus'umuzi Phakathi will be at the Baxter from 01 October till 13 October, the middle of his one-man tour -- the #DoubleBillTour. Phakathi, also known as Romeo the poet/Lil' Hussil, is touring nine South African provinces,12 African countries and four continents. Phakathi is also the writer and producer.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village in Soweto for the ninth annual Soweto Pride march on Saturday September 28 2013. The organisers, the Forum for the Empowerment of Women (FEW), say that the march is a platform for LGBTI people from Soweto and the surrounding townships and cities to reclaim public spaces.

Renowned Palestinian poet performs in Khayelitsha
On 24 September 2013, Remi Kanazi, a world-renowned Palestinian-American performance poet, gave a performance of his poetry in Khayelitsha in Cape Town. Kanazi’s poetry covers a range of topics, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Islamophobia and imperialism.
