In November, GroundUp published an article on learners using socks and all manner of items as sanitary pads. Donations have been streaming in to the GroundUp offices ever since. These will be distributed to schools.

Learners said they sometimes missed school and exams because they could not afford sanitary wear. Some said they went to clinics for contraceptives to stop their period so that they would not have to buy sanitary pads. The article drew attention to the need for sanitary pads in schools and amongst young people in general.

Anyone who wants to donate, can of course give directly to schools, people and communities in their area.
