Isma-Eel Stanfield is only 20 and plays striker for Cape Town All Stars in the second division. On Sunday they beat FC Tygerberg and Isma-Eel scored two goals.
GroundUp: What position do you play?
Stanfield: Striker
GroundUp:Tell us about Sunday’s game?
Stanfield: It was very good and very competitive. We got great support! When the support is good it builds us as a team and makes us strong. I was happy to score two goals for my team. it was a great moment.
GroundUp: How has the season been for you?
Stanfield: The season had been good but we are building on our winning-streak.
GroundUp: Do you have challenges?
Stanfield: Yes, there are so many but you always have to keep your head and make sure that you don’t get distracted by the wrong people. Even if you get injured you have to get up and recover. At the end hard work pays off
GroundUp: Which teams have you played for?
Stanfield: I played 10 years for Ajax Cape Town. I represented our country last year playing in the U20 South Africa Tournament.
GroundUp: Who is your role model?
Stanfield: My Role model is myself because I know what I am capable of. I am making sure I fulfil my dream. I also like Messi; the guy knows the ball for sure.
GroundUp: What message do you have for young players?
Stanfield: If you want to be a good player it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes hard work and time. No matter where you come from follow your dream.
