Langa residents protested yesterday, demanding new houses. Several shops were looted, roads were closed and police used teargas and fired rubber bullets. Armand Hough took several dramatic photographs.


Hundreds of people took part in the protest which started in the early morning.


Protesters set up burning barricades.


There was great anger among residents over the slow pace of housing delivery. Many have been on waiting lists for years.
